Political Memorandum 2024-2029: The financial sector, a partner for the future

3 October 2023 - 2 min Reading time

The economic, geopolitical and technological environment has changed rapidly in recent years. We live in a period of high inflation, limited economic growth, increased digitalization, climate transition, geopolitical uncertainty and an important reshaping of the energy landscape. Various challenges await us in the coming years. Challenges that the financial sector, together with other partners, must face to secure the future for future generations.

In this memorandum, Febelfin makes a number of proposals for concrete and necessary cooperation between the Belgian financial sector and the various levels of government in Belgium.

In total, 14 actions and 38 recommendations were formulated in the stakeholder document to strengthen cooperation with the various authorities around 6 partnerships:

  • Partner in the financing of the Belgian economy
  • Partner in the transition to a sustainable society
  • Partner in a reliable, efficient and safe economy
  • Partner in an innovative, data-driven and digital society
  • Partner in an inclusive society
  • Partner in Europe

The challenges we face as a society are complex and multiple. More than ever we need an ambitious, realistic but proactive policy. Policy measures that anticipate sustainable long-term growth.

To achieve this, a stable and transparent framework must be created that stimulates investment and entrepreneurship.

Febelfin is ready to enter into a constructive dialogue with the various authorities and offer its expertise to the next legislature.
