Report denial of outstanding balance insurance

This article is about how to report a refusal of your bank for a life insurance policy.

Not everyone can easily or affordably obtain a mortgage balance insurance (schuldsaldoverzekering). When facing difficulties, the Monitoring Bureau intervenes. This service is free.

How does the Monitoring Bureau work?

When you take out a mortgage loan, you typically also purchase a mortgage balance insurance.

If you are in good health, your bank - often in collaboration with an insurance company - will usually provide you with a mortgage balance insurance easily.

However, if you have a chronic illness, it becomes more challenging. The bank may refuse to provide you with mortgage balance insurance or may make it very expensive.

This is where the Monitoring Bureau steps in. It reviews your bank's proposal and issues an advice. If your bank subsequently offers you a contract, they must follow this opinion. The intervention of the Monitoring Bureau is free for you.
