Just one month after its launch, Fraudstop is already proving its value to the public. This is evident from figures provided by Worldline, which manages both Card Stop and Fraudstop. Since 22 June, more than 6,700 calls related to fraud cases have been registered, representing an average of around 200 calls per day. These calls account for nearly 12% of the total call volume received via the central Card Stop and Fraudstop number, 078 170 170.

The figures show that citizens are quickly finding their way to this new point of contact when they suspect online fraud.

Fraudstop was launched on the initiative of Febelfin in collaboration with the Minister for Consumer Protection, Rob Beenders. Its aim is to simplify the steps that victims and potential victims of online fraud need to take.  Anyone who suspects that their banking details have been used fraudulently, notices that money has been stolen from their account, has disclosed security codes or has authorised a fraudulent transaction can have payments blocked by their bank with a simple call to Fraudstop.

Fraudstop can be reached via the same number as Card Stop, 078 170 170. Already familiar to many consumers, this number provides a single, central and easily recognisable point of contact in the event of suspected fraud.

Karel Baert, CEO of Febelfin: “When someone is confronted with a fraud attempt, every minute counts. The easier it is to find help quickly, the greater the chance of limiting the damage.”

Joachim Goyvaerts, CEO of Worldline Belgium: “Thanks to Fraudstop, consumers can quickly get the help they need. As the operational partner, we ensure that calls are handled efficiently 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, enabling the bank concerned to take the necessary measures as quickly as possible.”

Fraudstop complements the existing channels offered by banks. Customers can also still contact their bank directly via the usual fraud helpline numbers.

To further improve the accessibility of the service, the Fraudstop website is now also available in German, in addition to Dutch, French and English.
