Thanks to a successful collaboration between the Cabinet of Minister Willy Borsus, the Walloon Public Service (SPW), the Digital Agency, TechnofuturTIC, and Febelfin, new information sessions "J'adopte la banque numérique" (I adopt digital banking) are being launched in Wallonia.

Between November 2023 and December 2024, Febelfin will conduct information sessions in over 35 Walloon public digital spaces (Espaces Publics Numériques or EPNs) with the aim of enhancing digital skills. An “EPN” is a Walloon public digital space, equipped with IT equipment and accessible to all citizens. They provide guidance and training to strengthen everyone's digital skills. Today, these digital spaces are present in 127 Walloon municipalities.

What's on the 2.5-hour program? A combination of theory and practice in digital banking. Febelfin starts by explaining how to get started with online banking and how to do it safely. Participants can then confidentially ask specific questions to their local banker, who will be present.

Willy Borsus, Minister of Economy and Digitalization: "The use of digital technology is now part of our daily lives, especially when it comes to accessing banking services. Unfortunately, it must be acknowledged that for many citizens, these digital practices pose a challenge. Initiatives like this will help familiarize many people with various banking operations and raise awareness about potential threats and online fraud. It's a collaboration that I support and find essential.”

Karel Baert, CEO of Febelfin: "I am delighted with this new collaboration in digital inclusion with the Walloon Region. Organizing these sessions in partnership with public digital spaces (EPNs) and local banks ensures that participants receive tools and can establish long-term contacts to further enhance their skills in online banking.”

Similar initiatives by Febelfin also exist in Flanders and Brussels.
