Febelfin and the Service public de Wallonie – Emploi et Formation (SPW) announce the continuation of their collaboration on the ‘J’adopte la banque numérique’ initiative in 2026. Launched at the end of 2023, this programme aims to make the use of digital banking services easier for citizens in Wallonia.
‘J’adopte la banque numérique’ offers free sessions organised by Febelfin in the Espaces Publics Numériques (EPNs) across Wallonia. The EPNs—local facilities supported by the SPW and dedicated to digital inclusion—primarily provide these sessions for people who are little or not familiar with digital tools and online banking services.
In 2025 bestond het programma uit 20 sessies, goed voor 434 deelnemers in de Waalse EPN’s. Sinds eind 2023 werden in totaal 51 sessies georganiseerd, met 1.192 deelnemers.
Digital inclusion has been a priority for the Belgian banking sector for several years. Society is moving towards increasingly digital applications, including for financial services. The banking sector fully supports this evolution but is also aware that a segment of the population has not yet taken the step towards the digital world.
In this context, it is not only essential to guide the public in using digital banking services, but also to raise awareness about online safety. Preventing online scams, recognising fraud in time, and developing the right reflexes are crucial to banking digitally in a safe and worry‑free way—particularly for those less familiar with the digital world.
The Espaces Publics Numériques (EPNs) are spaces designed to be accessible to everyone. They offer a welcoming environment and personalised support, enabling citizens, regardless of their level, to develop digital skills and become more autonomous. In doing so, EPNs support those with lower levels of digital proficiency and help to narrow the digital divide in terms of access, skills, and confidence.
This forms part of the digital inclusion plan developed by Wallonia. It is one of the 12 pillars on which the region relies to reduce the digital divide among Walloon citizens.
The extension in 2026 reaffirms the joint commitment of Febelfin and the SPW to digital inclusion, supported by the EPN network and staff from the banking sector.
