On October 7, 2021, Eurofinas, European Federation of Finance House Associations, elected Mr. Bart Vervenne, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the BVK, as the new Chairman.
Eurofinas is the mouthpiece of the specialized consumer credit sector at European level. It currently represents 16 member associations, which in turn bring together more than 471 companies. These employ more than 192,000 people across Europe. In the course of 2020, the companies represented by the Eurofinas members granted EUR 400.6 billion in new loans. Their portfolio of outstanding loans passed the EUR 1 trillion mark for the fifth year in a row, reaching EUR 1.139 trillion at the end of the year.
Eurofinas is the only federation in the European Union exclusively dealing with all policy and regulatory issues related to consumer credit and consumer credit providers. For example, over the years it has established excellent working relationships with the EU institutions and supervisory authorities, all of whom recognize and appreciate the expertise of Eurofinas and its members. In addition, Eurofinas leads the work of the European Banking Industry Committee in the field of consumer credit.
Bart Vervenne holds a degree in commercial engineering and a Master in Business Administration from KU Leuven University, as well as a General Management Program, INSEAD/CEDEP, Fontainebleau. Vervenne has held various positions within the commercial network of the Generale Bank, as well as responsibilities at a central level within Fortis.
In 2005 he became chairman and CEO of Alpha Crédit. Since 2016, he has been a member of the executive committee of BNP Paribas Personal Finance, responsible for the Benelux region. He also holds directorships in several companies.
Bart Vervenne has been a member of the Board of Directors of the BVK since 2013 and a member of the Bureau since 2019. On February 5, 2021, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the BVK. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Febelfin.
