In recent years, a lot has changed in the world of ATMs. ATMs disappeared in some locations, while new ones were opened in others. Sufficient access to cash is an important objective of the financial sector. Therefore, several initiatives were developed by the banking sector over the years to ensure the availability and accessibility of ATMs. In order to offer you a quick and convenient overview of all ATMs in your area, Febelfin is now launching a new website www.ikzoekeengeldautomaat.be / www.jechercheundistributeurdebillets.be (only in Dutch/French).
Access to cash
Electronic payments have become established in recent years and the number of cash withdrawals from ATMs has halved over the past 10 years. But cash remains an important means of payment. To continue guaranteeing secure access to cash in the future, several banks have joined forces. With Batopin (initiative of Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING and KBC/CBC) and Jofico (initiative of Argenta, Crelan, vdk bank and bpost) there are currently two major initiatives that continue to guarantee access to ATMs for anyone wishing to withdraw cash.
The banking sector concluded a protocol with the government on 31 March 2023 guaranteeing wide accessibility and availability of ATMs today and tomorrow. The location and geographical distribution of ATMs is particularly important in this regard.
The Batopin initiative by Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING and KBC/CBC creates a completely new network of ATMs (the so-called CASH points) which replace the existing ATMs of these banks and are no longer located in the familiar bank branch.
This comes with several necessary changes for customers. In order to provide more clarity and help consumers find an ATM, Febelfin has therefore developed new website, www.ikzoekeengeldautomaat.be / www.jechercheundistributeurdebillets.be that you can use on both computer and smartphone.
How does it work?
Go to www.ikzoekeengeldautomaat.be / www.jechercheundistributeurdebillets.be, enter the street name, municipality or postcode in the search window and select one of the suggestions. At a single glance, you will then get a map indicating all locations of ATMs. You can zoom in and out or scroll the map to find other locations with ATMs.
ATMs of the following institutions are included: Argenta, Attijariwa Bank, Batopin ("CASH"), Belfius, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, bpost, CBC, Crelan (including ex-AXA Bank), Europabank, ING, Fintro, KBC, KBC Brussels, Loomis and vdk bank.
Why should you use it?
Via this website, you get a complete overview of all available ATMs in your area. If you click through, you can see details such as address, opening hours and whether you can also deposit banknotes there. You can also click through to find the shortest route to that location via Google Maps.
In short, this tool should help you find an ATM in a quick and user-friendly way whenever you need cash, wherever you are in Belgium.
You can withdraw cash by bank card at any ATM, regardless of your bank. You can only deposit cash at the ATMs of the bank of which you are a customer if the location is equipped with a cash deposit machine. Cash deposits at the Batopin cash deposit machines are only possible for customers of Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC, Fintro, ING, KBC and KBC Brussels.
