People will have enough time to discuss payment deferral with their bank On March 22, 2020,

Febelfin, Minister of Finance Alexander De Croo, and the National Bank of Belgium announced their intention to financially support Belgian citizens and businesses in case they encounter difficulties due to the coronavirus.

Together with the entire financial sector and the government, Febelfin is currently working intensively on the practical implementation of this commitment regarding mortgage loans and business loans. This will enable all banks to communicate uniformly to their customers and assist them in the same way.

An important aspect of this is that people will have sufficient time to discuss a potential payment deferral with their banker. Those who wish to do so can contact their banker in the coming weeks. Therefore, it is not necessary to contact them in the coming days.

Febelfin and the government will soon communicate all practical details regarding the payment deferral.
