Belgian banks will be closed on Friday 10 and Monday 13 April. Digital payments and banking remain perfectly possible as always. Consumers can therefore pay digitally (with their smartphone and card) without any problems. Febelfin does advise everyone to schedule their transfers in advance. During the extended Easter weekend it takes a little longer before money is transferred, unless you opt for an instant payment.
Febelfin advises everyone to schedule his or her transfers in good time so that he/she is not faced with unpleasant surprises.
When you make a transfer digitally, your beneficiary's bank normally receives that transfer one (banking) day after your own bank has made it.
Due to the extended weekend, it is possible that the payment will be postponed. No payments will be processed on Friday, April 10, during the weekend of April 11 and 12, and on Monday, April 13.
This may mean that if you make a transfer during Thursday 9 April, your beneficiary will not receive the payment on Friday, but will receive the payment on Tuesday 14 April.
There are of course exceptions: transfers to a beneficiary at the same bank as yourself, for example, are faster.
If a consumer opts for an instant payment, his of her payment will not be delayed. Such an instant payment is processed immediately, 24 hours a day, including at night, on public holidays and during (extended) weekends.
The following 18 banks offer instant transfers: Argenta, Bank de Kremer, Bank J. Van Breda & C°, Bank Nagelmackers, Belfius Bank, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, bpost bank, CBC Banque, CPH Banque, Crelan, Europabank, Fintro, Hello bank!, ING Belgium, KBC Bank, KBC Brussels and vdk bank.
